If you join the family at RIVET, we take your membership seriously. And we firmly believe that we’re successful when you’re successful.

One of the things we love to do at RIVET is… celebrate!

Our members come to our gym for a number of reasons. They want to lose fat. They hope to gain muscle mass. They want to ready themselves for the summer season. They want to train for a specific sport. But, ultimately, they want to live longer, happier and healthier lives. In our experience we have found that no two members are alike.

Different goals, different strategies for reaching those goals, and different outcomes along the way. We meet you where you are, and celebrate as you get to where you’re going.

Athlete Spotlight

Everybody meet Connor.

If it weren’t for Drew, Connor’s friend and work colleague, he likely wouldn’t have discovered Rivet.

Q: Favorite ice cream or sweet snack?

A: Chocolate chip cookie dough, or anything spicy from Salt & Straw

Q: Favorite and least favorite crossfit movements?

A: Favorite is the snatch and least favorite is hollow rocks..they’re just the worst.

Q: Favorite color?

A: Oregon State orange

Q: Favorite quote?

A: “I want to stay as close to the edge as i can without going over. Out on the edge you can see all kinds of things you can’t see from the center.”

Q: Favorite joke?

A: My dog used to chase people on a bike a lot. It got so bad we had to take her bike away.

Q: What motivates you to work hard?

A: The gains! I love that in only two months I’m back up to weightlifting levels I was at pre-surgeries that kept me out of the gym for years. Who knows where I can go from here with Rivet’s help!

Q: If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

A: Kraft mac and cheese, refrigerated then heated in the microwave. Weird? Yes. Delicious? Absolutely.

Q: Who would you cast to play you in a movie about your life?

A: Chris Pine, people say he looks like me…

Q: How has CrossFit impacted your everyday life?

A: CrossFit has helped me regain the physical side of life – I feel super awake and motivated to do any physical activity! It’s also got me out of bed and hour and a half earlier everyday, which makes my days that much longer and more fulfilling.

Coach’s Notes

Connor was one of our first members at Rivet and his work ethic and consistency have both been impeccable. Each session, he pays close attention to detail and pushes himself to improve. While his clear gains in endurance and strength in the last three months are worth celebrating; I’m especially proud of a couple big steps he’s made in other directions:

  • Mobility (shout out to that front rack position we are still working on)
  • Whole30 trial run (we will go for a “strict” version this fall when there’s less crossover with tempting food/booze events)
  • Running “Hood to Coast”

I also want to thank him for sharing his enthusiasm and sense of humor with us. I can’t wait to watch all of his progress keep skyrocketing.
