It’s with a heavy heart that Rivet will be closed until further notice. With the latest news of the mandatory stay-home order on Monday, March 23rd, we are shutting down immediately. With the gym being closed and many of you working from home, we ask that you do just that, stay home and honor social distancing. We will continue to post workouts on our website, build our Rivet Community socially, and stay connected as a family.

During this time, we are providing you at-home workouts on Wodhopper/Rivet website. Many have purchased or are planning to borrow gear from Rivet. We will be loaning dumbbells, kettlebells, jump ropes, and more with the Rivet Equipment Loan Program. Please fill out this form and come to Rivet on Tuesday, March 24 between 11am and 1pm to pick up the equipment. This is a great time to remember that you’ve been doing functional fitness that is constantly varied. With that said, get creative. If you don’t have a dumbbell, kettlebell or plate, pick up two jugs of milk, cans of beans, a backpack with books, case of beer, paint cans, and don’t forget to have fun!! We will be sharing videos and best practices on Facebook and Instagram. If you do not have an Instagram, it may be worth considering getting one to easily access that content as well as stay connected with your teammates!

Here are a few ways to optimize your results during this time away from the physical space of the gym:

  1. Play Rivet At Home Bingo. Download the PDF bingo card!
  2. Create accountability with your normal class buddies – Start a group text, set up recurring meetings, and find creative ways to stay connected to your workout family.
  3. Sign in to your class on Wodhopper and log your scores.
  4. Post to our Facebook/Instagram Community. Comment on your peer’s post, friendly banter is always welcome 🙂
  5. Comment on @rivetathleticclub IG WOD videos.
  6. Tag us in your training videos so we can share what you’re up to.
  7. Continue to block your calendar and make your workouts happen.

We are here for you and want to support you in any way we can. Three years ago, Rivet was just a shell of cinder blocks with nothing in it. Today, we are a family, full of strength and determination.

We thank you for your continued community support. Your continued membership and support during this time are what will allow us to reopen our doors when the virus is better understood and more contained. We are grateful for each one of you.

Governor Kate Brown announced statewide actions on March 16, 2020. Following the actions, Rivet will be limiting class sizes to 10 people and enforce social distancing. Members must RSVP to classes to allow capping classes at 10 people. Coach Morgan will be recording videos for the home WOD movements and posting them on the Rivet YouTube channel. We have reached out to our local gym equipment supplier, Kiloflex Fitness, on home gym equipment availability. Rivet members can submit their order and Kiloflex will deliver to Rivet for members free of charge.

We are living in exceptional times, and there are no perfect solutions to a situation that changes daily. Rather than regurgitate what many of you have seen in numerous emails, we want to share our specific plan. Rivet will remain open unless extraneous circumstances prevent us from doing so.

Expanded Open Gym Times

Monday through Friday 11:00 am to 1:00 pm

Kids’ Zone

Many members are working from home, with kids also at home. The kids’ zone will remain open, but the communal toys will be put away. Have your child bring their own book or toy. We will clean the kids’ zone per the “Enhanced Cleaning” section below.

At-Home Workouts

Starting Monday, March 16th, Coach Morgan is releasing home workouts that can be done with minimal equipment. The workouts will be available in WodHopper, and we ask you to RSVP (added bonus points for logging your scores) to the daily home WOD to keep accountability high and the sense of community rolling.

Rivet Lifestyle Challenge

Now is a great time to focus on your lifestyle and nutrition, which can be done at home. Coach Morgan will be sharing the challenge details soon.

Member Responsibilities

  1. Wash your hands before and after attending class. We have hand sanitizer in obvious locations throughout the gym.
  2. Wipe equipment down with Rivet-provided gym wipes.
  3. Use over-the-top, creative, non-contact, high fives, and fist bumps.
  4. Stay away from the gym if you don’t feel well, have a fever, or suspect you’ve come into contact with a person with COVID-19.

Enhanced Cleaning

From day one, we’ve taken pride in operating a clean, well-organized gym. We will be spraying equipment in accordance with CDC guidelines and using solutions from the EPA’s List N: Disinfectants for Use Against SARS-CoV-2. Our gym towels will be washed in accordance with CDC guidelines as well.

Chalk Talk

The communal chalk buckets are in quarantine. We know that some of you may be challenged lifting without chalk (e.g., Kati), and a good solution is to get your own personal chalk from our local friends at Beasty Chalk. Also, we will have a limited number of personal chalk bottles for sale at the front desk later this week.

Rivet Green Dream Bus, Mission 4

The Green Dream Bus has suspended operations until further notice. We have an email out to Omar, the owner, to see if this includes chartered events. Mission 4 is planned for Sunday, April 5th and we’ll let you know the status in a future communication.

Membership Holds and Cancellations

We ask that you think carefully before canceling or suspending your membership. Our intention is to continue paying our awesome coaches and staff as we do today, but if suspensions and cancelations increase, the above plans will change and the longevity of the amazing Rivet community is at risk. We are investing in the above changes so that you stay motivated, fit, and focus on self-care in the challenging times ahead.

Ideas We are Noodling On

We’ve been discussing ideas such as live-streamed workouts, limited class size with RSVP requirements, outdoor workouts, and more. We want to hear from you.
